Grand-Am Rolex Series Schedule Announcement Includes 2010 July Date At New Jersey Motorsports Park

Millville, N.J. (October 12, 2009) -
Following a series schedule announcement by Grand-Am Road Racing, New Jersey Motorsports Park today confirmed the second race date on the South Jersey facility’s 2010 schedule. The Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series will return for its third appearance at the Millville, N.J. track, July 16-18, 2010.
The New Jersey Motorsports Park round, as race nine of 12 on the Rolex Series schedule, places Thunderbolt Raceway in a pivotal slot in the championship hunt. As in the past two years, Daytona Prototype stars David Donohue, Scott Pruett, Rolex Series co-champs Jon Fogarty and Alex Gurney will be joined by GT drivers Dirk Werner, Leh Keen, Andy Lally, and Patrick Dempsey for the traditional race-within-a-race format of the Rolex Series.
“This date change was a collective decision between New Jersey Motorsports Park and Grand-Am officials to move to a hopefully more predictable July event,” said Kevin Wittman, General Manager of New Jersey Motorsports Park. “The combination of the summer race and beautiful South Jersey July weather and the continued growth of both the event and this facility make the Rolex Series one of the cornerstones of our schedule.”
The Grand-Am Rolex Series joins the AMA Pro Superbike Championships on the 2010 New Jersey Motorsports Park schedule. AMA Pro Racing President Roger Edmondson and New Jersey Motorsports Park officials announced at the conclusion of this year’s event that the American Superbike and Daytona SportBike event will become a Labor Day tradition, with the 2010 edition scheduled for September 3-5.
The Rolex Series, like many of the professional races at New Jersey Motorsports Park, offers fan-friendly events with access to the racing experience, including a pit road fan walk and direct interaction with drivers, team members and race cars. All Grand-Am events include driver autograph sessions, a pit road fan walk and an open paddock and garage area.
The remaining events on the 2010 New Jersey Motorsports Park spectator schedule will be released in the coming weeks, with information on individual and season ticket packages following those announcements.
