Amateur Racers Swarm New Jersey Motorsports Park

Millville, N.J. (August 21, 2009) -
New Jersey Motorsports Park will be a beacon to amateur racers this weekend, August 21 – 22, with over 400 cars expected to participate on the Park’s two road courses.
The 2.25-mile Thunderbolt Raceway hosts the South Jersey Region of the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) for an SCCA Regional race on Saturday and Sunday. The Delaware Valley Chapter of the BMW Car Club of America will be on the 1.9-mile Lightning Raceway for regional races on the same days.
“This weekend will showcase competitive, grassroots racing on both of our tracks,” said Kevin Wittman, General Manager of New Jersey Motorsports Park. “As a race fan, the weekend promises to be very competitive. The variety of cars that will be on both tracks this weekend will be unmatched.”
Over 220 cars are expected for the South Jersey SCCA Regional race, which will showcase amateur racers in up to 49 classes split into nine groups. The Del-Val BMW CCA event is expecting 190 entries for a variety of races featuring the German machines.
Spectators are welcome to New Jersey Motorsports Park for both events. Admission to the park is $15 per day, which provides access to both events. In addition, the world-class F1 New Jersey karting facility is open for the arrive-and-drive program during the weekend.
Children 12 and under are admitted free to all events at New Jersey Motorsports Park.
